JOAN DE ALWIS 26th January 1927 – 24th July 2024 Joan de Alwis, precious mother, grandmother. great grandmother and beloved sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 97, one year ago. She was a devoted mother. At a time when women going out to work was not So common, she took up a lob at Lever Brothers in order to support the family income and provide for her 5 children. She continued to work there for 25 years. making lifelong friends out of many colleagues. She loved God and valued the fellowship she had with his people. Her love for God was reflected in the way she showed kindness and love to all she came in contact with, whether through phone calls, visits or the never-forgotten wishes on one’s birthday.
Lovingly remembered by Dame and Sheran, Dilu and Sharma, Esther and Austen, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.
