HEMANTHA PEIRIS – Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura; beloved husband of Lokukalutotage Padma Nandani Peiris; cherished father of Dr. Hasanka Peiris and Ravindi Peiris; beloved father-in-law of Minoli Gray and Dilshan Senanayake; adored grandfather of Jayan, Emaya, Virya and Samasti; and loving brother of Lilani Fernando, Padmini Peiris and Thamara Peiris; brother-in-law of Yasantha Fernando, (late) Rajendra De Silva and Karunarathne Kulawardhana, passed away peacefully on 19th July, 2026. Remains lie at “The Restpect Home” by Jayaratne’s, Borella, from 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday, 21st July. The cortege leaves the parlour on Wednesday, 22nd July, for cremation at 3.30 p.m. at the New Crematorium, General Cemetery, Kithulwatte Road, Borella.
