Dear Shehara,
My Deepest Sympathies at the early demise of Chris. I met you in the recent past @ Alfred House Gardens with Anisha Rajapakse. Likewise, I was happy that I met Chris @ the swimming club, Stallions tent, Unawatuna beach & finally @ the Rowing club. During our meetings, he revealed some amazing stories of our long school days which I hadn’t even thought of !!
May he R.I.P until we meet again.
Dear Dushy, our sincere condolences to you and all the family
A musical momento with Chris, A keen enthusiast, listener and connoisseur.
We were say 15/16? He requested me to play the “ Maiden’s prayer”. I did. At the hallowed College Hall, piano. The only time in my 68 yrs that I have had a standing ovation from the entire audience ( was he ! ). I bowed appreciatively ! The concert ended, the memory everlasting.
A human being of superlative quality, yet so humble. Glad I chatted with him in January when we were there. Mostly about music, he also talked of the joys being a grandpa, with much pride.
Angelic voices
Are heralding your arrival
Dear friend
Rest In Peace.

My deepest sympathies to Wife, children of Chris & to all the family members.
We were together, classmates at Royal College from 1960 – 67 & Chris was a good heated, straight forward, kind friend. Any way we all have to go on this journey one day & unfortunately he has to end up his life journey at this moment. All in all we all miss our loving friend Chris & I believe he is in the hands of Jesus also Chris’s soul will rest in pease & rise in glory.

I knew Chris since Royal primary days. We shared the same class from year 9 onwards. Then we entered the University of Colombo together as well.
I think it was our first day at the University. We were stopped by a group of seniors when returning home. After hearing our names, one of them identified Chris as the National Chess Champion. So, both of us were asked to play a game of chess on an improvised chess broad drawn on the sand using pebbles and stones.
Later in life we drifted away to two different continents. Our meetings were rare and far apart. But the conversation was always rich, considerate, and engaging when we met. The story continued from where we had left.
Our heartfelt condolences to wife Dushy, brother Arjuna and the rest of the family.
My brother may you rest in peace.
Pebbles on the sand
Brother, we remember you
How can all this be true?
Growing up and the carefree past
Should have known it wouldn’t last
There was no warning
Of the last battle dawning
Through youth and daring
Thank you for your caring
Chris, I’II meet you later on
At the place you have gone
Let us play chess in that new land
With shiny pebbles on the sand

Chris and I shared a classroom the first eight years at Royal Primary and Royal Junior schools. We started kindergarten together in Mrs. Jayasinghe’s 1C class, all the way back in 1960. I fondly remember the cricket matches we played during breaks in our classroom activities. We were reunited in the same classroom during O’Levels and A’Levels at Royal College. I followed him to University of Sri Lanka, Colombo. Even though we never attended lectures together, found time to play a hand or two of bridge in the cafeteria between lectures.
We had a long phone conversation when I was in Sri Lanka earlier this year, never realizing it was going to be our last.
Dushy, Nicole and Laura, please accept our heartfelt condolences, and convey the same to your family, especially to Arjuna, Shehara and Romany.
Christopher Parakrama, may you Rest In Peace.

Chris and I were at the University of Colombo and also in the Maths Special discipline. I have fond memories of him, always cheerful, ready to play chess anytime, and full of life! My condolences to his family. Rest in peace Chris.
