It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Bastiampillai on May 27, 2025. Born April 7, 1935, in Atchuvelly, Sri Lanka.To the late Nicholapillai Bastiampillai and the late Mariamma Bastiampillai, Joseph spent his years in Jaffna and Colombo before moving to Canada after retirement.He was the son-in-law to the late Santhiapillai Saverimuthu, and the late Magdalene Saverimuthu.He is mourned by his wife of 61 years, Mary Bastiampillai (Prema), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.He leaves behind his children, Sharmini Ramanathan, Nishani Karunakaran and Roshani Phillips, who carry forward his legacy of love, kindness, and strength, along with his son-in-laws, Anthony Ramanathan, Ronald Karunakaran and Chris Phillips (Deva).He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Stella (Mani), Mary Latitia (Baba), Pius and Peter.
