ABEYASEKERA – MRS. PUNYA,​ cherished wife of late Bandula Abeysekera,​ beloved mother of Indira,​ Saroja,​ Sajotha,​ Chirasthi and Jithari,​ mother-in-law of Atula,​ Sudath,​ Jivantha and Gihan,​ much loved grandmother of Kushala,​ Natasha,​ Sascha,​ Chamari,​ Tharani,​ Tanisha,​ Divanka and Leiha,​ loving grandmother-in-law of Claire and Nilakshi,​ devoted great grandmother of Sophia and Alfie,​ treasured daughter of late Mudliyar Wilmot Wijesinghe and late Mrs. Ethel Wijesinghe,​ sister of late Mrs. Chitra Seneviratne and sister-in-law of late Justice O S M Seneviratne,​ passed away peacefully on August 18,​ 2025. Her remains lie at the “Araliya Parlour”,​ Jayaratne Funeral Parlour,​ Colombo 8 (Elvitigala Mawatha entrance),​ from 7.00 p.m. on Thursday,​ August 21,​ 2025. Cortege will leave the parlour at 4.00 p.m. for cremation at the New Crematorium,​ General Cemetery,​ Kanatte at 4.30 p.m. on Friday,​ August 22,​ 2025.
