ABHAYARATNA,​ MANEL (nee JAYASURIYA) “At Rest with Jesus” (retired Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) Former Director of Information and Head of Government Film Unit,​ Former Director of the BMICH,​ retired Author and Editor of The Catholic Messenger),​ dearly beloved wife of Susantha,​ mother of Sunila and late Rohan,​ mother-in-law of Gihan De Silva,​ grandmother of Gishan,​ Arindha,​ Saranga and Navin,​ sister of late Brenda,​ Brighta and Gerald,​ passed away peacefully on the 30th of August 2023. Remains will lie at A.F. Raymond’s Funeral Parlour on 1st September. Funeral Service will take place at the Parlour at 10.30 a.m. on the 2nd September,​ cortege leaves Parlour at 11.00 a.m. Cremation at 11.30 a.m. at the General Cemetery,​ Borella (New Crematorium)
