NIMAL MENDIS (Singer &amp; Songwriter)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nimal Mendis\u00a0(1934\u20132015) was a Sri Lankan singer and songwriter, Mendis was discovered in the late 1950s by\u00a0Radio Ceylon, that \u00a0backed Mendis&#8217; songs including &#8220;Kandyan Express&#8221;, turning them into hits.The devastation of the 2004\u00a0tsunami\u00a0moved Mendis in to composing a song to aid the victims. \u00a0This was recorded in many countries and \u00a0commended by the British Parliament. Mendis has 22 songs published and has written music for films in Sri Lanka. &#8220;Kiss Kiss Kiss&#8221; was Mendis&#8217;s first song that was recorded. Mendis has written several memorable songs for Sri Lankan films, most notably &#8220;Master Sir&#8221; for the film\u00a0Kalu Diya Dhahara\u00a0sung by Vijaya Kumaranatunga, \u00a0The song has remained a hit in Sri Lanka for over thirty years as was The hit\u00a0Ran Tikiri Sina\u00a0 written for the same film.
