Farrhath Thyib passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2026, leaving a profound legacy in Sri Lanka’s maritime education sector. He is remembered as a man of immense strength, quiet wisdom, and absolute integrity who was always ready to help anyone in need.
To his family, Farrhath was a steadfast anchor. He was the dearly beloved husband of Nirmala Fernando and the deeply cherished father of his only child, Efani Farrhath. His world revolved entirely around protecting his loved ones, remaining a close advisor and best friend to his daughter. He was loved for his signature humor, wise advice, and wonderful cooking.
Professionally, Mr. Thyib was a towering figure in maritime training, shaping generations of seafarers. Prior to his career as a leader at CINEC Campus and as Principal of Mercmarine Training (MSTI), he served up to the rank of 2nd Officer in the Merchant Navy. He was laid to rest at the Kapuwatta Cemetery.
