MAJ. GEN. (RETD.) PELPOLA – N.P.D. It is with profound sorrow that we inform the public of the demise of Major General (Retd.) N.P.D. Pelpola, Precious Brother of the late Padmini Gridley,Gnani Pereira,Irangani Rodrigo, Jayanthi Pelpola George Pelpola and Daya Pelpola . He was a former distinguished Commanding Officer of the 2nd (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and the First Major General of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force. His remains will lie in state on 28th September 2026 at 2.00 p.m. at the Gampola UC for the public to pay their final respects. Thereafter proceed to the Roman Catholic Church at Ambagamuwa Road, Gampola and thereafter for interment in the family burial grounds at Mahara, Gampola with full military honours.
